BUSINESSES

INVESTING OUTSIDE YOUR BUSINESS REQUIRES INFORMED DECISIONS.

As small business owners ourselves, we know how it works. Owners show up early. Leave late. Skip vacation. Get paid last. The business is your investment portfolio. Until one day, it isn’t. Once the business is generating more cash than it needs, what do you do with that money? We work with small businesses who are ready to invest outside of their business.

WHAT’S YOUR BUSINESS?

Investment Consulting & Employee Education

At Muhlenkamp, we specialize in listening to business owners, then advising them on how to build their personal portfolio and make intelligent investments. We help them, and help their employees to become financially literate, so that one day they too may reach financial freedom.

We are disciplined enough to stick to our process even when it is out of favor because we understand why our process should (and does) work. We put our reasons down on paper so our clients can become experts themselves and take control of their financial futures.

Competitive advantages

We distinguish our investment consulting services from all the others based on the experience of our hometown team, our investment approach, the culture of risk management, and service delivery model — you get the A-Team, always!

We look at companies the way other companies look at companies; without the Wall Street BS that often clouds the view.

As a small to mid-size business, there are business retirement plans to consider:

Simplified Employee Pension Plan, or SEP-IRA.
Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees — SIMPLE IRA.
Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees — SIMPLE 401(k).

Whether you work alone or employ others, we can guide you to a plan that will help you build wealth for the future while you focus on your business today.

Some of the Ins and Outs to Know

Simplified Employee Pension Plan, or SEP-IRA

True: If you set up a SEP IRA plan for your small business, you must include all of your employees who are 21 or older, have performed services for the business in at least three of the last five years and have received at least $600 in compensation from your business for the year.

Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees — SIMPLE IRA.

True: At Muhlenkamp, we love to cater to the small business.  And with a SIMPLE IRA (Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees) if you have fewer than 100 employees this retirement plan may be right for you. More often it is set up, vs. a 401K, simply because it’s easier to set up and administer.

Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees — SIMPLE 401(k)

True: The SIMPLE 401(k) plan is a cross between the more familiar SIMPLE IRA and a traditional 401(k) plan.  It’s a simplified, stripped-down version of a regular 401(k) plan, geared for the self-employed and small business owners.

True:  By adding a corporate retirement plan, your business can have a competitive advantage! It’s never been harder to recruit and retain top-notch employees. “A-players” look for more than a salary. One way to show your current team, and new hires, your commitment to their financial success, is to provide them with a comprehensive suite of benefits, including planning and saving for their retirement.
